Holistic Health and Wellness Services at Brilliant Bodywork


Holistic health is an ancient practice that has been around for thousands of years, we know that Traditional Chinese medicine, which is a type of holistic care, dates back and was developed 4,000 years ago by a Buddhist monk. Holistic health has continued to grow in popularity as people look for ways to integrate multiple health and wellness practices into their own lives.

The American Holistic Health Association (AHHA) describes holistic health this way:

"Rather than focusing on illness or specific parts of the body, this ancient approach to health considers the whole person and how he or she interacts with his or her environment. It emphasizes the connection of mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to achieve maximum well-being, where everything is functioning the very best that is possible."

Part of why holistic health and wellness is so popular is that it focuses on treating the whole person to achieve optimal health. Holistic health looks at the entire individual as opposed to just a part of the person or a symptom they have. For example, we offer a holistic approach to massage therapy. This means we work to not only relieve pain and tension in the muscle through the physical massage but we try to understand what may be causing the pain and tension in the body. We look at physical activities that may be causing the built up tension as well emotional factors like stress and anxiety that can manifest as physical symptoms like pain and tension. When treating a client we consider the whole person and what may be impacting them in their life at that moment so we can come up with a comprehensive treatment plan and goals to work towards together.

We consider ourselves a holistic spa in the sense that we strive to treat the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. We keep this goal in mind when engaging in any of our services with our clients. As well as working to care for our clients via a holistic approach, we also offer wellness therapies and alternative services that are considered to be holistic services. Here are some of the wellness therapies and alternative treatments we offer at Brilliant Bodywork-

1. Reiki-

A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress, and can help support the body to facilitate healing on all levels - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words- Rei which means "Gods Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". Therefore, Reiki actually means "spiritually guided life force energy." Reiki works by treating the whole person, body, emotions, mind, and spirit. The treatments create many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, serenity, security, and well-being. Reiki is simply a natural and safe practice of spiritual healing and self-improvement that anyone can use and benefit from. Reiki has been proven effective in helping to heal many different illnesses and maladies and always creates a beneficial effect for the receiver. Reiki can also be used in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic practices to promote health and wellness and reduce side effects while aiding in promoting recovery. 2. Shirodhara-

Shirodhara is a form of Ayurveda therapy, it is a luxurious and easy way to achieve instant calm and rejuvenation. It focuses on the chakra point just above and between the eyebrows. A steady flow of warm oil onto the forehead stimulates the pituitary gland, or "third-eye" chakra. This is one of the most divine ancient ayurvedic therapies, awakening the body’s intuitive knowledge. The name comes from the Sanskrit words "Shiro," means head, and "dhara" means flow. Therefore Shirodhara is the continuous flow of oil poured in a steady stream on your forehead. This treatment is profoundly relaxing, and nourishing. It will improve your mental clarity and comprehension. The procedure is also said to synchronize alpha brain waves, enhance blood circulation to the brain, improve mental clarity, and release deeply trapped toxins. 3. Ionic Foot Bath and Ear Candling- The Ionic foot bath is used to externally aid in the elimination of toxins from the body. Most illnesses and disease happen because of toxin accumulation and build-up in our organs and tissues. Reducing the amount of toxins in our body is most significant for restoring health.

Ear Candling works to get rid of inches of impacted earwax, candida infections, and fungal infections. Our soy based organic candles are an alternative to painful ear flushing or surgery. Improve and return hearing, improve physical balance, cleanse the sinus cavities and the lymphatic system, eliminate ear pains, and promote healthier ears. This is a much healthier way to clear the ears then sticking q-tips in them. Q-tips are designed to clean the outer part of the ear, when you stick the q-tip into the inner ear it actually pushes the wax further into the canal which can cause a blockage or if you go to far in you can damage the ear. 4. Infrared Therapies-

Infrared therapies are an effective, relaxing and enjoyable way to achieve a variety of results and benefits. Here at Brilliant Bodywork we offer two different treatments that utilize infrared heat technology, the far infrared sauna and the infra-slim body contouring wrap. Infrared heat offers multiple health benefits for the user. Some of these benefits include relieving muscle and joint pains, boost immune system, improve skin texture, increase fluid circulation, reduce stress and fatigue, improve metabolism, and remove toxins from the body.

With the infra-slim system you can lose fat and inches fast using two fat reducing therapies, infrared heat and pressure therapy. The way the infra-slim works is through using the infrared heat which studies show penetrates the body about 1 1/2 inches quickly and painlessy. Once the infrared heat has penentrated the body it heats the fat cells causing them to expand and open expelling fat and toxins. This process is known as lipolysis. When the fat cells shrink back they leave a flatter waist, tummy, thighs, buttocks, and arms. The second part of the process is the pressure therapy, as the infrared heat penetrates the body targeting the fat cells the steady pressure therapy works to transport the fat and toxins into the lymphatic system and to the liver where they are metabolized and discharged through sweat, bodily functions and other forms of detoxification in the body.

6. Self-care Ideas-

Self-care is such an important part of living your best, most authentic, life. It is something that often gets put on the back burner in the hustle and bustle of daily life. We have jobs, families, responsibilities and obligations pulling us in different directions non-stop. It's easy to push your own wants and needs to the side thinking you will get to them when everything else is taken care of. However, when we don't prioritize and make time for our own spiritual/physical/emotional self-care it can negatively impact the other parts of our life and create unwanted stress and chaos.
