The Next Big Thing for Skin

Microneedling, also known as Collagen induction therapy (CIT) has been called the next BIG thing in anti-aging according to Vogue magazine. This therapy also has become quite popular in the skincare world and with good reason, Microneedling therapy is a simple procedure that produces amazing results.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling involves a simple procedure using a hand-controlled device with tiny millimeter-sized needles that puncture the outer layer of skin creating a controlled injury to the skin. The damage caused to the skin signals your body to stimulate new collagen and elastin to help heal the damaged cells.

This way your body is naturally creating collagen and elastin which rejuvenates the skin by filling in fine lines and wrinkles while improving the overall texture of the skin. Because it is your own body healing itself the results appear much more natural. The other benefit of Microneedling is that it helps to push product deeper into the skin allowing serums and skin care products to work more effectively.

How long does it take to work?

A Microneedling session is about 30 to 45 minutes and you may feel a slight pulling sensation on the skin with very little discomfort during the actual treatment. After the treatment, the skin may appear a little flushed and red, like a light sunburn, but will begin to subside and return to its normal tone within a few hours or days of the treatment.

You will need more than one session to receive the full benefit of the procedure, typically between 4 to 8 treatments is needed for full growth of collagen and elastin. Treatments are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart as well to maintain the health and safety of the skin. Additional benefits and risks of Microneedling.

Here are some of the benefits Microneedling offers:

  • Wrinkles

  • Stretch marks

  • Scars

  • Acne scarring

  • Skin Tone

  • Fine lines

  • Loose skin

  • Large Pores

  • Discoloration

Risks associated with Microneedling are minimal if any, after treatment skin may be dry or red discoloration may occur and will typically dissipate within a week.

What Micorneedle product we use. We use the Derma pen device which has 12 very tiny needles that pierce the skin vertically as opposed to the typical microneedle roller device which rolls into the skin at an angle and create larger tears in the skin than necessary creating damage to the skin instead of helping it. By puncturing the skin vertically the needles pierce straight into the dermis and pull straight out, no tearing or pulling the delicate skin.

With the Derma pen, we use sterile, individually-sealed, disposable needle cartridges offering our clients ideal safety and hygiene.
