Countdown to Christmas Bucket List


With today being the 1st of December we thought it would be a good time to put out our countdown to Christmas bucket list, the list features 25 things you can do to really get into the holiday spirit. Pick one for each day until Christmas or pick the ones that appeal to you the most. See how many you can get done before the big day arrives, or pick your favorites and start some new family traditions. Most importantly have fun and feel the spirit of the season by spending time with those you love, doing what you can to help others, and reflecting on what this time of year is really about.

Today's post is a fun countdown to Christmas bucket list. We have put together 25 fun things to do before Christmas morning arrives. See how many you can get done before the big day arrives, or pick your favorites and start some new family traditions. Most importantly have fun and remember it is the season of giving and spending time with those you love.

1. Trim the tree and decorate the house. Get into the spirit by listening to your favorite holiday albums and wearing your favorite santa hat as you decorate.

2. Start and finish an advent calendar. You can pick one up at the store or check Pinterest for some really great ideas on making a homemade advent calendar.

3. Take family pictures and make Christmas cards to send holiday tidings to family and friends.

4. Have a Christmas camp out! In the living or family room put together a fort by the tree using blankets and string lights, pull out your favorite family games and have fun together all evening.

5. Elf on the Shelf, who knows what that mischievous little elf will get into next. Here are some great ideas from http://www.frugalcouponliving.com.

6. Have a gingerbread house making party.

7. Gather up your favorite Christmas stories and books, you may even want to check out the local library they always have a great seasonal collection. Snuggle up together by the tree under a warm blanket and read as many stories as you can.

9. Host an Operation Christmas Child party, or fill a few boxes as a family. Also, you could consider donating locally to toys for tots.

12. Craft night! Make ornaments for the Christmas tree and hang them together.

13. Bake Christmas candy and cookies together, then snuggle in and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas while you enjoy your creations. Look on Pinterest for a recipe for grinch popcorn.

14. Build a snowman or go sledding.

15. Date night! Leave the kiddos at home and head to rotary lights for a romantic horse drawn carriage ride thru the lights.

16. Ugly Sweater party!

17. Gift wrapping get together with friends, i'll bring the mulled wine!

18. Go visit Santa Claus and his elves or give him a call here:

20. Light a yule log or decorate an evergreen bough to celebrate yule.

21. Volunteer your time as a family to help people and/or animals in need.

22. Go ice skating at the new rotary lights ice rink.

23. Have a hot cocoa bar with all the trimmings and enjoy with a holiday movie marathon.

24. Create a night before Christmas box and open it on Christmas eve to enjoy! Don't forget the family Christmas jammies!
