Miss La Crosse Oktoberfest Scholarship Pageant Brilliant Boot-Camp

On Wednesday July 29, 2015 Brilliant Bodywork hosted a Pageant boot camp for a few of the girls participating in this years 2015 Miss La Crosse/Oktoberfest Scholarship Pageant. We were very excited to be able to host these lovely young ladies and teach them some tips and tricks for their big night. Myself, Lindsay, Spa Coordinator with Stephanie Andresen-Stevens, Co-Owner and Esthetician of Brilliant Bodywork led the girls through our pageant pointers. Both of us having been pageant girls ourselves years back, okay many years back.

We had a blast getting to know more about the contestants, what their platforms were, what they planned to wear for the different categories and what their talents were. We talked about wearing stage makeup and how when your on stage you need a lot more makeup then you do in person, especially for the light skinned blond ladies (like ourselves) who tend to get washed out by the stage lights. After getting to know the contestants we shared tips for interview such as using a scarf or jewelry to help your personality shine through to the judges. Also we discussed outfit suggestions for interview and shared with the girls the magic a close-toed nude pump can do for ones legs. Next we moved onto makeovers.

We did Glo-Mineral Luxe foundation and finishing powder and Glo-Minerals smokey eye palettes for eyes. I talked to the girls about how they can do light contouring to make eyes and cheekbones pop and showed them step by step a easy smokey eye. We also shared the importance of a good lip color and how a good lip color can make a world of difference when it comes to completing your stage or interview look. After make-up we had fresh fruit, veggies and hummus and fresh sweet tea while we socialized. We let the girls know they were welcome to come back anytime before the pageant for advice, makeup or outfit help or anything they needed.

We all had a lot of fun, me and Steph reminisced about our own pageant days as these bright young women looked forward to their own scholarship pageants. It was so great to see how each of these young ladies cared so much about getting out in their community and making a difference and what they would do if they won the crown and the chance to further their causes and platforms. I think each of the ladies we encountered that evening are winners regardless of if they win the crown.

Thank you to the Miss La Crosse Oktoberfest Organization for giving us the opportunity to work with your amazing young women from the scholarship program, were looking forward to pageant night to watch as these bright ladies continue on their journey and we celebrate each of their talents and platforms.
